General

Q1: Should local evaluators use Prevention Activities Data System (PADS) reports to evaluate local SIG projects?
A: No. PADS collects prevention data ONLY for services delivered and funded with Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment (SAPT) block grant dollars disseminated to counties via the Negotiated Net Amount (NNA) contract. Therefore, PADS data is not relevant in evaluating outcomes for SIG projects.

Q2: Should counties report SIG data in PADS?
A: No. Counties should only report in PADS service data associated with the SAPT block grant dollars disseminated to counties via the NNA contract .

Q3: Will PADS be replaced by CalOMS Prevention?
A: Yes. The current PADS reporting system will retire upon the completion of all fourth quarter data submissions for fiscal year 05/06, which are due by July 31, 2006. All fiscal year 06/07 primary prevention service data related to SAPT NNA funds will be submitted via the new web-based CalOMS Prevention data collection service beginning July 2006. SIG data will not be collected by CalOMS.
