Details: Stacy Saetta, legal policy researcher
at Pacific Institute for Research and
Evaluation, will discuss current best practices
and trends in social host accountability
ordinances in
California and the components of a social
host ordinance (penalties, community service,
responsible persons, etc.) that a community
should consider based on local needs and goals
when drafting one. Gary Najarian, Prevention
Coordinator of Marin County Division of Alcohol,
Drug and Tobacco Programs, then will discuss the
implementation of a social host ordinance
campaign, including the challenges coalitions
may face in seeking the enactment of an
ordinance and his real-time experience in the
successful enactment of social host ordinances
in
Marin County and in its incorporated
cities.
