Spring 2021 Newsletter

This issue of CPI Connection shared resources from the 2020 CPI Virtual Regional Training (“Trauma-Informed Care: Research to Practice”). It also featured several trainings and upcoming events, and CPI’s new Social Media Tip Sheet.

Spring 2020 Newsletter

This CPI Connection highlighted CPI’s new Prevention 101 and STEPP Training webpages. It also shared CPI resources to help professionals prepare for California Certified Prevention Specialist (CCPS) recertification.

Fall 2019 Newsletter

This CPI Connection featured resources from the recent 2019 CPI Regional Trainings, which focused on Cultural Competence. It also highlighted CPI’s updated cannabis brochure for parents. 

Spring 2019 Newsletter

The CPI Team highlighted the opportunity to request no-cost technical assistance and training. This CPI Connection also featured two County Spotlights. They showcased Los Angeles County’s efforts to stop public marijuana smoking, and a Mendocino County Friday Night Live chapter, GASP (Go Away Smokers Please),  that gave out “Responsible Merchant Awards” to promote local retailers’ alcohol and tobacco compliance.

Spring 2018 Newsletter

The CPI Team shared the new online hub of information for California prevention professionals interested in becoming certified. In addition, CPI also released a new guide: “Focus Groups – Helpful Tools for Strategic Prevention Planning.”

Winter 2018 Newsletter

This CPI Connection shared achievements and activities from the previous year of CPI. These included, for example, hosting 36 trainings, delivering 8 webinars, and completing 250 technical assistance requests. 

January 2018 Newsletter

This first issue of the “CPI Connection” featured relevant prevention news, upcoming Prevention Extension trainings, and CPI resources coming soon to help prevention professionals renew their certification.

Spring 2017 Newsletter

This newsletter focused on the upcoming 2017 CPI Regional Trainings, which had the theme “Examining Cultural Competence in SUD Prevention.” It also highlighted the recently overhauled CPI website and the new quiz questions in CPI’s online trainings.

Fall 2016 Newsletter

This newsletter announced the release of several new CPI products, including the County Indicator Toolkit, the Guide to Writing a Strategic Prevention Plan, a customizable cannabis brochure for parents, and a professional development tracking tool.

Summer 2016 Newsletter

This newsletter invited readers to register for the 2016 CPI Regional Trainings, “All About Data.” Other topics included opioid misuse and abuse and prevention tools for collaboration. The Consultant Spotlight focused on Charlie Seltzer, MA.

Winter 2016 Newsletter

This newsletter announced the new CPI Cannabis and Prescription Drug Resource Libraries. Resources included an online course on prevention in the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant. The Consultant Spotlight focused on Dana Goodrow, MSW, MPH.

Spring 2015 Newsletter

This newsletter included the 2015 Prevention Workforce Development Survey and resources on topics including Alcohol Awareness Month, trauma-informed addiction prevention, and suicide prevention for health care providers.

January 2015 Newsletter

This newsletter highlighted the 2014 Monitoring the Future Survey, SAMHSA’s 2011-2014 Leading Change: Accomplishments Report, and a report funded by The California Endowment on using the Health Home Model with boys and young men of color.

August 2014 Newsletter

This newsletter included links to several SAMHSA reports on treatment and emergency room admissions; an online training on youth behavioral change; and commentaries on recent trends in prevention and drug enforcement.

July 2014 Newsletter

This newsletter highlighted reports based on the most recent National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) and Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS); reports and advertisements on adolescent tobacco use; and the 2014 National Drug Control Strategy.
