Prevention 101 – Part 2: Prevention Theories, Institute of Medicine and Risk Classifications

The second session will introduce Prevention Theories, including several important theoretical frameworks that inform why and how prevention strategies are effective in addressing and preventing substance use. This session will also discuss the Institute of Medicine and Risk Classifications by providing an introduction to the Continuum of Care and the Institute of Medicine (IOM) models.
